The Junior Grange is a program designed specifically for children ages 5 to 14. It focuses on leadership development, community service, and agricultural education in a family-friendly environment.
Even though we do not yet have a fully chartered Junior Grange, (yet!) our juniors are fully eligible to enter all regional, state, and national contests, talent programs, and summer camps.
Core Programs & Focus Areas
- Junior +1 Program: Ensures children ages 5 to 14 can participate in the Grange even if their local town doesn't have enough kids to form a full independent Junior Grange.
- Community Service: Junior members organize and participate in local service projects, such as food drives, environmental cleanups, and visiting nursing homes.
- Agriculture & Nature: Programs emphasize where food comes from, basic gardening, animal care, and environmental conservation.
- National Achievement Badges: Similar to Scouting, members can earn structured Junior Grange Achievement Badges in categories like arts and crafts, creative writing, safety, camping, and citizenship.
Fun Fact: Normally, to form or maintain an official, fully chartered local Junior Grange, a community needs to have at least 13 children. The 1+ Program bypasses this rule, allowing local adult chapters to sponsor and engage children one member at a time.
