Garden Like It's 1776

Join the East Chatham Grange for this multi-part gardening series -- a Food Freedom project for all ages, to promote education and sustainability within our communities! Will include prizes for presentation, innovation, traditional methods, best preservation, culinary, etc. in adult and youth categories.

Program Events

  • Colonial gardening, garden planning and seed starting: June 2026
  • How to plant, companion planting and fertilizing: June & July

  • Harvesting and preserving: August, September, October
  • Seed saving: September, October
  • Event with presentation and display: October

Awards Criteria

  • Must attend all categories of workshops (i.e. only one preservation workshop is necessary)
  • Must provide poster board and presentation
  • Must grow at least 4 vegetables and 1 herb
  • Must preserve at least two of the grown items
